Edge Magazine
Edge Magazine is an Australian art and culture magazine aimed at 18–25-year-olds. The design approach for the magazine draws on the influence of Neville Brody’s post-punk typography and David Carson’s grunge magazine layouts and incorporates contemporary use of negative space and bold accent colours to create a simple, clean and effective layout.
Designed to consider how young people interact with print in the digital age, the publication design focuses on bold typography, distressed typefaces and textures as well as layering of text and images to appeal to the youth market. The result is a publication with a tangible, handmade feel that functions as something collectable in an increasingly sleek and digital world.
